Active substances

The quality and quantity of active substances is responsible for the effectiveness of the cosmetic. The condition for the activity of active ingredients in cosmetics is the ability to penetrate the epidermis and reach the appropriate receptor.

Active substances have many different functions, they can be divided into, for example, vitamins, exfoliating substances (e.g. AHA acids), moisturizing substances (so-called humectants), substances of plant origin (extracts, oils, butters), lightening / whitening substances, substances protecting against UV rays, metals (e.g. gold, colloidal silver, copper peptides), peptides, growth factors, antioxidants. Accurate and unambiguous classification is difficult because, for example, vitamins may belong to different categories, depending on their moisturizing, exfoliating, brightening and antioxidant properties.
