Peptides

Peptides are proteins that result from joining by a peptide bond two or more amino acid molecules. Peptides and growth factors are essential for the proper course of all processes in living organisms. With age, the amount of the body's natural peptides decreases or their proper synthesis is damaged, and the repair and metabolic processes controlled by them gradually weaken and become disturbed. As a consequence, this process leads to the observed changes related to e.g. with the aging process of the body.

Therefore, scientific research has provided the world with biomimetic peptides, i.e. synthetic chemical compounds acting on the principle of faithful imitation of natural substances present in the body that control metabolic processes directly affecting target cells.

Currently, aesthetic medicine and the cosmetics industry have several hundred biomimetic peptides at their disposal, which have been used in products with a rejuvenating, smoothing and firming effect on the skin, in anti-discoloration preparations, in cosmetics reducing fat tissue and cellulite, as well as in cosmetics that stop hair loss.

Peptides used in cosmetics can be divided into:

→ Transport peptides – they transport substances necessary for the proper metabolic processes in the skin. These include the copper peptide. Copper ions are essential for wound healing and many enzymatic processes. The element takes part in the process of neutralizing free radicals. In addition, copper is an element on which an enzyme called lysyl oxidase is dependent, which plays a key role in the formation of collagen and elastin.

→ Relaxing peptides (neuropeptides, inhibitors of neurotransmitters) - relax the muscles that are responsible for the formation of expression lines; can be an alternative to botox.

→ Signal peptides - the specific ability of peptides to initiate intracellular processes has resulted in the discovery of their influence on the process of fibroblast growth, collagen and elastin synthesis. Signal peptides are most often collagen and elastin fragments, and their delivery from the outside to the dermis is a signal for the production of new collagen macromolecules, and thus will improve the appearance and elasticity of the skin.
